Welcome
to The Ferry Inn, Cawood
Keith
and Gemma Bellwood welcome you to The Ferry Inn, Cawood.
This is a family
run freehouse, and as such we hope to provide an extensive range
of beers, wine and spirits, along with excellent home-cooked food in
a friendly, informal atmosphere. We pride ourselves on offering
the best in customer service and facilities, whatever the time of year.
After
spending a long time in London, we have now come home to the North
(Gemma grew up in Cawood). We began trading at The Ferry
Inn on October 20th 2005 (the day our son was born) and are slowly
but surely making progress to what we hope is a wonderful English
country Inn, but with a few modern amenities.
The Ferry Inn itself
is an early 16th Century building, sitting on the banks of the
river Ouse, and adjacent to historic Cawood bridge (c.1878). A river
crossing has been situated here for many hundreds of years. The
building has been variously a farmhouse, coaching inn and cottages, and
is now a large public house with many original features and a large
riverside terrace and beer garden, with outside seating for in
excess of 200 people.
- Five real ales: Rooster's Yankee, Taylor's Landlord,
Deuchars IPA plus ever changing guests.
- An excellent range of draught & bottled lagers, including
Staropramen on draught, and an extensive wine list.
- Three real fires & mulled wine during winter months.
- Extensive heated decking area and huge riverside beer
garden.
- Children and pets are welcome.
- Car parking available.
- Weekend barbecues & riverside marquee bar during
the summer (weather permitting).
- Available for private functions - please enquire.
